JW's last river related entry in his journals,
August 19,
1945, he
notes that he rode the Packet GENEVA as a young boy when he went to
Fayette City to work on the John Brown Farm. Looking at the first
page of his journal,
Early Years, he writes the year he worked on this
farm as 1876, making him 14 years old. The GENEVA was built in 1871.
