JW mentions the HORNET NO. 2 several times between February 14, 1900 and July 1901.  The July 1901 entries are documented in the photos above. 

JW wrote as follows:

July 1, 1901   4 Lower River Boats on the Ways at one time   Iron Sides - Joseph Walton - Sam Clarke - and Valiant -  Steamers Hornet #2 and Exporter in the River.

July 20, 1901  Steamer Hornet #2 on the cradles at the rivers edge for Cylinder Timbers Job,  new ones 

As you can see in the photos above the HORNET NO. 2 is at the rivers edge, ready for new "Cylinder Timbers Job."  This entry is one of the few that JW made in his journal that has photos that specifically document it.
